1955 Porsche 356 Super Speedster

This is a MATCHING NUMBERS Pre A Super Speedster, California Black plate car. This Porsche has Patina, Provenance and Performance.

The car was repainted approximately 45 years ago and has held up very well with a beautiful warm patina throughout. This car has no rust, retaining its original floors, matching #s doors, and deck. The hood is unkinked. The car has great gaps. The battery box bottom was replaced. The interior has original chalk numbered doors panels. original rear seat cover, along with gauge dash hood. The seats were redone by Ray Paterek. The gauges are original and operate fine. All the trim pieces are original and unrestored, including glass reflectors, Hella shine down light, hood handle, emblems, and door handles. The car was originally white.

The car has great documented Provenance, starting out in California, then to Arizona and then on to Georgia where I purchased it in 2015. Included with car is the California Black plate, the Arizona plate and the Georgia plate “55SPSTR”, all are backed up with registrations and documentation. The car has a factory Kardex and Porsche COA documenting matching engine and trans. I have receipts for all work I have done.

As for Performance, this is one of the very rare 55 Super Speedsters, eligible for the Mille Miglia. Only 16% of Speedsters had had a Super motor, this engine is the special TYPE 528/2 producing 70HP@5000rpm. Originally equipped with a Hirth roller bearing crank, it has been updated with a plain bearing crank, and comes with an original Hirth Roller Crank. Only 141 were made. James Dean had the first 528/2 Super Speedster, white with red, this is 2nd to last 528/2 Super Speedster. All three pieces of the case match, the 40MM Solex carbs were rebuilt by Carb Rescue, re-jetted and installed 2 years ago. Valves were recently adjusted and the compression averages 157psi/cyl.  The front and rear main seals done, along with new clutch, pressure plate and flywheel. The steel brake line in tunnel, dual circuit master cylinder, all new wheel cylinders, drums cut, and flexible brake lines have been replaced. King and link pins were done and upgraded to “B” spindles. The 383 Flat top distributor was rebuilt. The car sits on repro 16 rims with AVON Turbosteel radials and comes with a set of 4 date correct SUDRAD wheels. I have driven the car often in the last 3 years and it runs and drives well.

Also included is an original tool kit with original tools, side curtains, spare, jack and a repair book by Elfrink.
